CULTURAL CENTER TOCKA (2002 - 2010)
Kontrapunkt is actively working in the non-profit cultural field since 2001 and so far was running the Cultural Center Tocka (2002-2010) that was the focal point for creating a critical discourse. The main idea was to make a strong network of NGO’s and individuals from different parts of Macedonia and from the region, which will have a point of meeting and acting in Skopje. It had done so by inviting notable guests from the ex-Yugoslav region, as well as artists and theorists from the wider, international scene. After loosing the space and it's funding in 2010, Kontrapunkt focused on educational and emancipatory projects, usually shaped in the form of schools, seminars and fewer public events and lectures. In 2016, Kontrapunkt started CRIC - Festival for critical thinking, now taking place each year in November. Living in a highly polarized and politicized region, combined with the total devastation of dialogue in the public sphere, the aim of CRIC is to once a year to create a space for intensified critical dialogue and learning in the Macedonian society.
Throughout the years, Kontrapunkt has also been host to numerous artists and lecturers among which: Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Gerald Raunig, Marina Grzinik, Alexander Garcia Düttmann, Chto Delat, Suzana Milevska, Boris Buden, Zelimir Zilnik, Renata Salecl, Svetlana Slapshak, Michelle Teran, Tomislav Medak & Marcell Mars, etc. |
GALLERYIn collaboration with the publishing house Templum, from 2001 to 2010 Kontrapunkt has co- published numerous books in the filed of contemporary theory in culture, arts and humanities, by translating works of: Julia Kristeva, Zigmunt Bauman, Terry Eagleton, Jean-François Lyotard, Slavoj Zizek, Jacques Derrida, etc. |
